  • Mission

To provide an innovative and endearing academic environment for technological advancements of both staff and students

  • Vision

To be a stand-out School of Engineering noted for producing graduates that are primed to meet present day challenges and realities

Welcome!

I heartily welcome you to the School of Engineering - the School that has remained closely linked with the great strides and impact of our College, Yaba College of Technology.

The School of Engineering is domiciled in over more than five buildings across the college grounds, with the main Engineering Building being one of the magnificent structures of the college. Our highly enthusiastic students are trained academically, and molded to be embodiments of good morals and characters. Whereas the NBTE Curriculum forms the basis of courses in all polytechnics, the trainings and teachings our students are subjected to are designed to be ‘above bar’ by the introduction of current technological trends to align our students and to boost their relevance in today’s constantly changing technological world.

Hence, the achievements of the School are largely based on a well-designed mix of theory and practice implemented by a pool of highly qualified workforce of over 10 PhD and over 50 MSc holders. It is on record that the School has produced distinguished men and women who have gone to make indelible marks in both engineering and associated fields within and outside the country.

I therefore welcome you to an enriching experience in our midst!

Engr. M.A. Onasanya, PhD.

Growth of the School

From its humble beginning of a yearly admission population of 24 students in the 1950s, the School has grown to have a population of over 2,500 students undergoing Full Time National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) studies across 12 departments – which is presently the highest number of departments in a School in the College. The departments are:

  • Agric. & Bio-Environmental Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Civil Engineering

  • Computer Engineering

  • Electrical /Electronics Engineering

  • Industrial Maintenance Engineering

  • Marine Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Mechatronics Engineering

  • Metallurgical Engineering

  • Mineral and Petroleum Engineering

  • Welding and Fabrication Engineering

All the ND and HND courses in the School are duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).  Specifically, over 30 courses are presently offered in the School as presented in the table below
